Before we start, I get it. You may be thinking “I’m not an individual with a disability,” and you may not be. Perfect, because I don’t have to tell you that preparing for and landing a job takes strong collaboration between the individual seeking employment and his or her circle of support. So, whether you’re one of my uniquely-abled friends, parents, educators, family members, transition/vocational rehabilitation counselors (T/VRC), or employers, I’m so glad you’re here. We definitely need your special talents, too.

Born-and-raised a shy, small-town, Hill Country, Texas girl with nothing more than loving, devoted parents, a really strong passion, a ridiculous amount of office supplies, a huge dream, a boom box blaring KTSA, and a lot of lake time (for curious minds…Lake LBJ), I’m proud to have created a cutting-edge, digital hub for anyone whose life touches someone with a disability.
Through my unstoppable obsession to seek out the best employment opportunities for my driven, differently-abled friends (we soon become family), the most comprehensive yet refined, proprietary Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) curriculum available, and our down-to-earth, resource-packed, “Mondays with Mitzi” podcast, my team and I help people like you dream big and back it up with meaningful action to create the career results you want.
One of the things I’m often asked is
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
While, at this stage in the game, it is quite comical,
it’s a very valid question most serious job seekers ask oneself.
My path to get to where I am today has been far from conventional. I’ve always been a bit eclectic. I’m not one of those people who fits into a traditional “box” very well...like not at all. And, my insatiable quest for knowledge has lead me in search of that proverbial, “perfect” degree. But you see, in my heart (if I get REAL honest with myself), I knew it was never about the “degree,” per se. It was about learning. What more could I add to my toolbox? What could I learn that would help me to help others? And, could I find just a few more golden nuggets, please?
Remember that lake time…those endless days of summer? I spent limitless hours lying in the boat, rocking to waves, looking up at the stars, listening to my eight-tracks and thinking about my burning desire to help others. What could I “be?” I put those office supplies to good use.
And then, there was this other challenge. I was also passionate about a wealth of seemingly unconnected things: human behavior, ministry, writing, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and, of course, lake life…just to name a few.
After several degrees, a teaching career, a career with Ernst and Young, a plethora of interests and a lot of angst trying to choose just one thing to “be” in life, I realized that my winding path wasn’t heading toward a dead end. It was leading me somewhere really, really good. I just wasn’t sure where. (Ever feel that way?)
So, I kept the faith and moved right along, looking for fragments of knowledge at every turn.
What I did know, because I had seen it time and time again, is that the magic happens when you marry your goals with your special gifts.
Everyone has them, including you. It’s your strengths, your personality, your sense of humor, your history, and most importantly, your heart.
No matter what your employment dreams or obstacles, you have the power to change your life, and, by doing so, you change the lives of all those around you. That’s a beautiful paradigm shift, isn’t it?
Tired of living out of a suitcase and running from airport to airport and client site to client site, I traded in my heels for my flip-flops and followed my burning desire to channel my energies into a cause that could substantially impact the lives of others. This philosophy, a relentless amount of hard-work and a discernible amount of grace have led me to you.
